Research Perspective

Research in Service Oriented Technologies is focused on the use and application of advanced analytic technologies to address the information service and business intelligence challenges faced by enterprises. This group explores, designs and develops new systems and technologies for advanced business intelligence through information processing and analytics. Our focus is on service-oriented analytics solutions applicable to the enterprise. We are particularly interested in the design and implementation of specific data analytics solutions and supporting data mining of structured and unstructured data collections.

Impact of Future Technology (IoFT)

Impact of Future Technology (IoFT) is a strategic planning framework that combines classic research methods and innovative text analytics and information mining technology and techniques with subject matter expertise and experience to help organizations create a comprehensive, but scientifically defensible, view of the future.

SIMPLE 2.0

The SIMPLE 2.0 provides advanced text analytics capability to mine for high-value curated content in technical (e.g., patents) and professional literature collections (e.g., PubMed). The platform is designed to support investigation and evaluation for enterprise operations such as intellectual property portfolio management, licensing or intellectual property acquisition or divestiture, and research and development efforts.

Business Insights Workbench (BIW)

Business Insights Workbench (BIW) is a solution offered by IBM Research - Almaden that affords integrated structured and unstructured information mining. BIW embeds a suite of information analytics and data processing technologies to improve the caliber of decision-making for enterprises.

eClassifier

eClassifier is a classification and visualization tool designed for the analysis of text data sets. The core text processing technology is used to create meaningful hierarchical categorizations of a text corpus located in structured and unstructured databases to simply automate the classification of the text collection.

COrporate Brand and Reputation Analysis (COBRA)

COrporate Brand and Reputation Analysis (COBRA) leverages advanced and deep text and data analytics techniques to mine a wide range of social media content, such as blogs, news, forums, and corporate internal information. The text analytic techniques are used to derive customer and enterprise insights such as brand and reputation, product or service sentiment and market and competitive insights.

Altocumulus

Altocumulus is a project focused on simplifying the management of applications on a Cloud platform. The research effort on this project is aligned with IBM cloud computing initiatives.
