Moidin Mohiuddin is the associate director of the IBM Almaden Research Center. He has been with IBM Research since 1982, most of that time at the Almaden Research Center in San Jose, CA. He also spent a year (2000-01) at IBM Research headquarters in Yorktown Heights, NY, working on the technical strategy for the division. He has led projects in advanced storage systems, document image analysis and recognition, handwriting recognition, Web searching and mining, parallel processing for scientific computation, and data compression. He has received numerous IBM awards for his contributions, including a number of OTAAs and OIAs.
Mohiuddin received his MS ('77) and Ph.D. ('82) degrees in electrical engineering from Stanford University. He has more than 30 publications and several patents to his credit. He has served as an associate editor of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) Computer and the IEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence, and is a Fellow of the IEEE
