The conversation is underway. We hope that
it will continue in several productive and innovative directions.
We really do want this to be an ongoing conversation.
You may want to keep an eye on the site as the papers are
posted that further document the speakers' points of view. These
will be added to their individual pages, which are linked to the
agenda. The presentations are now
complete on the speakers' pages. The visual
journal of Eileen Clegg,
which we watched with so much interest during the sessions, is
available on this site. The Symposium stirred up some interest
in the press, and follow-up articles will be added here
as they appear. Within a few weeks, a formal proceedings will
collect and organize the results of the Symposium and will be
added to the site. And finally, we continue to capture key background
readings that form a tapestry of understanding about where
we've been, and where we think we may be going.
We received a long list of excellent ideas about how we can improve
and enhance future similar events. The planning for the Almaden
Institute in the Spring of 2004 is already well underway, and
we continue to solicit your ideas and feedback. We are also interested
in what you think would be the additional readings and voices
that should be brought into this conversation. Don't hesitate
to contact Jim Spohrer (spohrer@us.ibm.com)
or Doug McDavid (mcdavid@us.ibm.com)
with your ideas and suggestions.
Finally, thank you to all of those who made
the Almaden Symposium such a great success. Many speakers gave
their time to present a diversity of viewpoints and ideas in talks
and panel discussions, while participants contributed to lively
discussions in open sessions and in networking opportunities throughout
the two days. Almaden's event support and website support staff
provide a great service as well.
