Despite being a "research project", TSpaces can be licensed either for
use within an enterprise (an "enterprise license")
or for use embedded in a product (an OEM license).
We've written licenses of each kind for third parties.
New for TSpaces version 3: the package will include the
TSpaces source code, to make it easier for customers both to ensure
their independence and to fix/extend TSpaces themselves, as needed.
TSpaces has already been embedded in three IBM products,
since 1999:
Other IBM products are evaluating TSpaces for possible inclusion but,
unfortunately, we can't mention them until they finalize their
decision.
From the over 14,000 downloads of TSpaces since
March 1998, many organizations have approached us about licensing
TSpaces in either an enterprise or OEM capacity (and in some cases,
both). These organizations range from fortune 100 companies to
branches of the government to universities.
Many of these projects are either in
production today or are near deployment.
While our team is working to move TSpaces into a generally available
software product from IBM, it is available now for licensing.
