Informatics -- The future is not what it used to be!         Jean Paul Jacob

In his multimedia "Informatics" presentation, Jean Paul Jacob explores emerging technologies, discusses how humans are at the center of the networked universe and possible future technology scenarios -- many of which were just wild dreams only a few years ago. Now, however, such past predictions as computing power being sold as a public utility, sensors and objects forming a trillion-user network and computer-driven genetic engineering are fast approaching reality.

The explosive growth in the power of computers and other technologies will also bring about profound changes in our personal and professional lives in the coming decades. Computers and communications are being merged to create a networked universe that encompasses business, government, personal communications, education and entertainment. At the center of this universe is the individual and a pervasive anywhere/anytime interface. This scenario will enable people to become more productive, better informed, and capable of both enjoying and contributing to a higher quality of life.

You may rest assured, the future...is not what it used to be.
