Welcome to the home page of the Computer Science Principles and Methodologies Department at the IBM Almaden Research Center.

Members of the principles and methodologies group explore basic issues that confront computing today. Because theory cuts across every aspect of computer science, we tend to interact with a large number of other departments.

Here is a press clipping about some work we did jointly with Storage Systems on a differential backup for ADSM , the ADSTAR Distributed Storage Manager, now known as the Tivoli Storage Manager.

The TaxMan version of the CLEVER search engine was used to populate the "business technology" taxonomy on the SAP web portal, which was featured along with the CLEVER results at the 1999 SAP SAPPHIRE trade show in Philadelphia.
