About Sandeep Gopisetty

Sandeep Gopisetty is a Senior Technical Staff Member and Manager, who leads the Autonomic Storage Management Research at the IBM Almaden Research Center in San Jose, CA.

Sandeep Gopisetty graduated with MS in Computer Engineering from Santa Clara University in 1991. He immediately joined Almaden Research Center and was part of the OS/2 Core Application Development Team. In early 1992, he joined the Image Processing Group and has been working on improving character segmentation and recognition for Hand Print and Machine Print images.

Sandeep has been responsible for building the Intelligent Character Recognition System and providing an Application Program Interface for easy integration to various applications such as IRS Tax Forms Processing, Maryland State Tax Forms Processing, Blue Cross Health Forms Application Processing, Census, Postal Flats and Parcels applications and has also recently been building Video Coding System for Postal Applications. Sandeep is also responsible for building CASA, a home entertainment solution for growing digital content. Sandeep is responsible for architecting the Tivoli SAN Manager and is currently working on Autonomic Storage Resource Manager for SAN and IP networks.

Sandeep has been recognized by Andy Monshaw, GM, Storage - IBM Systems & Technology Group, for Excellence in People Management Award. People Managers play a vital role in IBM; in delivering business results, as custodians of the values, as leaders and mentors to the people.

Sandeep is the recipient of several patents and IBM awards including Outstanding Innovation Award and Supplemental Outstanding Technical Achievement Award for his vision and technical contributions to the architecture as well as leadership in driving his vision into plan and through implementation with a team that spanned three divisions in Storage Management toward creation of TotalStorage Productivity Center (TPC), Outstanding Technical Achievement Award for Character Recognition and also a Supplemental Outstanding Technical Achievement Award for Character Recognition. He is also interested in Object Oriented Systems, Java, C and C++ programming, and distributed database systems development.
