Current work
I'm currently currently supporting about 150 Linux systems
running on the
System Z mainframe and implementing an IBM Tivoli Monitoring (ITM)
infrastructure over several thousand very hetergenious systems,
everything from Windows to Linux (on every imagineable platform) to AIX
to Solaris to HP-UX to zOS to zVM to .... (we make software for ALL of
that).
Background
I went to college at Stanford.
I got
both a bachelor's in Industrial Engineering and a master's in
Electrical
Engineering/Computer Engineering in April, 1973, and immediately went
to
work at IBM Los Gatos working on image processing systems.
High
resolution was 200 dpi, and there was one bit per pixel.
Pixels
were either black or white, and we didn't call them pixels, we called
them pels. Since then,
I've been an MVS system programmer, IMS developer, repository manager
developer, disk drive microcoder, storage subsystem
performance, and did performance analysis of an advanced file system
for Storage Area Networks (SANs).
