What I do away from work

Wildlife photography

IBM Almaden is situated on about 700 acres, of which only 40 are developed. The remainder is wild, and has everything up to and including mountain lions. I spend my lunch hours tramping the hillsides looking for photogenic wildlife. To see some examples of wildlife pictures I have taken here at IBM Almaden and in the adjacent Santa Teresa County Park, click here.  I'm a member of the Wildlife Photographers of Silicon Valley and the Bay Area Bird Photographers.

SCUBA diving

Silicon Valley is conveniently located near Monterey, home of some of the best diving (if you don't mind 50F water) in the world.  I dive Monterey almost every weekend from my Boston Whaler.  I also dive where it's warmer. I do lots of underwater photography and am a board member of the Northern California Underwater Photographic Society.  I'm also the webmaster for Diving Singles.

For more information about about Monterey diving, see the Bay Area Diving Home Page.  To see some underwater pictures I've taken, click here.
