As in past years, New Paradigms for Using Computers 1998 will be available for all to see via Internet broadcast. This year, we will be using RealVideo instead of CU-SeeMe. If you already have RealPlayer installed and configured, use the links below to view the conference:
Internet server (20 kbps). IBM Intranet (20 kbps)
Archived video recordings available soon!
All the conference participants, including the video broadcast watchers, are encouraged to participate by telephoning in with their questions or comments.
To view the conference, please use the free RealPlayer, available from Real Networks.
If you are having problems receiving the broadcast, please set your connection to non-multicast UDP with TCP fallback. In the realPlayer, choose View | Preferences | Transports, and ensure that both TCP and UDP are checked under "Specify Transport." If you are having problems getting your browser to start the RealPlayer, you can start RealPlayer by hand and enter the following text under "Open Location..." in the RealPlayer (these are NOT links for your browser): External: pnm://wwwqbic.almaden.ibm.com/npuc.rm Internal: pnm://toro.almaden.ibm.com/npuc.rm
This conference will be archived; after the conference, this page will link to recordings of the entire conference. If you miss some of the conference, please do come back and see the rest!
IBM intranet viewers should use the link above for "IBM Intranet server", as this should provide both intranet and Internet users with the best performance. If necessary, however, IBM intranet viewers may view the Internet feed with a TCP stack. (This is recommended only for advanced users.) You will also need to change the transport settings for the RealPlayer. Under references", select the "Transport" tab. Click "Use specified transports." Then click the "Specify Transports..." button. Ensure that "Use TCP to Connect" is selected, and that only "Attempt to use TCP for all content" is checked.
