Biography
Ron Johnson is Vice President, Engineering & Technology for Advanced Systems,
a business segment of Boeing's Integrated Defense Systems (IDS).
In this role Ron is responsible for the technology planning process
across IDS and for developing and transitioning technologies from
Phantom Works and other strategic sources into the businesses.
In addition, Ron has responsibility for Mission Assurance and
Information Technology. Advanced Systems multiple business segments
provide a wide range of products and services to the business
units across IDS, including advanced capabilities for fixed wing
and rotary wing high-performance manned and unmanned aircraft,
airlift and tankers, command, control and communications, strategic
systems, weapon systems, military satellites, and civil security
systems. Net-Centric Operations (NCO) is a key element of many
of these business areas. Ron has been a leader in establishing
the system of systems engineering process which enables the NCO
approach and is the executive spokesperson for NCO across IDS
systems engineering. He is the executive sponsor for the Boeing
enterprise NCO Sub-Council and Knowledge Management for IDS engineering.
Prior to this assignment Ron served as the Vice President, Engineering
& Operations for Air Force Systems, the largest business element
of Boeing's Integrated Defense Systems. He also served as Vice
President, Engineering for Boeing's Space & Communications.
Ron began his career with Boeing in 1996 as Engineering Vice President
of Electronic Systems and Missile Defense. In 2000, Ron also had
the role as Anaheim site Chief Engineer.
Prior to joining Boeing Ron worked for Martin Marietta (now Lockheed
Martin) Electronic & Missile Systems in Orlando, Florida where
he progressed from design engineer to Manager, and then Director
of program and functional areas. Ron led engineering efforts on
the most advanced technology programs in electro-optics and radars
for ground vehicles, ships, high performance and rotary wing aircraft,
tactical missiles and for the largest ($4B, LANTIRN) production
program in Orlando. Ron has 39 years experience in aerospace engineering,
program management and new business development.
He graduated from Texas Tech University with a B.S. in Physics.
Ron is married and has two children. He enjoys spending time with
his family, church, photography, and travel.
Ron is a member of the AIAA, NDIA Systems Engineering Division
and AFA and is the Boeing Executive Focal for Stanford University.
He is also a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society.
