IBM Research - Almaden Manager Ron Fagin named one of seven new IBM Fellows

Ron Fagin, IBM FellowRon Fagin, Manager, Foundations of Computer Science, is one of the seven IBMers to earn the company's highest technical honor of IBM Fellow this year.

Ron Fagin QuoteIBM Fellows join a distinguished group of IBM's finest innovators who have demonstrated significant contributions to science and technology. Since the Fellow program's inception in 1963, only 238 individuals have earned this designation. When he introduced the program, IBM Chairman Thomas Watson Jr. explained the reason for recognizing outstanding technical innovators in this manner: "Creativity has made the difference between our being an ordinary company and one of the great companies of the world."

Ron's achievements in foundational database theory and fundamental mathematics have earned him worldwide recognition and technical honors, the most recent being the McDowell Award, popularly known as the "IT Nobel."
