From San Francisco: Travel time is approximately 4 hours
- Take I-80 East to Sacramento
- Approaching Sacramento, merge onto US-50 East to South Lake Tahoe, 100 miles and 2-hour drive time
- At the second stoplight in S Lake Tahoe, stay straight to go onto CA-89
- Just over 3 miles turn left on Fallen Leaf Road
- Follow road 5 miles, past the marina, to a paved bridge on the right
- Cross over the bridge and enter Stanford Sierra Camp
- Continue on the road to the Main Lodge and follow the Office signs up a small hill on the left

From Reno: Travel time is approximately 1.5 hours.
- Take US-395 South towards Carson City
- Take exit 57B for US-395 S toward Carson City
- Merge onto US-395/S Virginia St continue to follow US-395 for approximately 17 miles
- Merge onto N Carson St via Exit 43 for approximately six miles
- Turn right onto US-50 (Spooner Summit) to South Lake Tahoe for 27 miles
- Turn right onto CA-89
- Just over 3 miles turn left on Fallen Leaf Road across from the "Tallac Historic Site" sign
- Follow road 5 miles, past the marina, to a paved bridge on the right
- Cross over the bridge and enter Stanford Sierra Camp
- Continue on the road to the Main Lodge and follow the Office signs to park on the uphill side of the lodge

From Southern California: Travel time is approximately 8.5+ hours.
- Take I-5 North to Sacramento
- In Sacramento, merge onto US-50 East to South Lake Tahoe, 100 miles
- See "From San Francisco" for further directions

- Take US-395 North towards Carson City and Reno
- 118 miles north of Mammoth Lakes turn left onto NV-88
- 1.9 miles later turn right onto NV-207/Mottsville Lane
- Continue 14.3 miles on NV-207 over Kingsbury Grade into the Lake Tahoe Basin
- Turn left onto Lake Tahoe Blvd./US-50 (Crossing into California)
