Biography
James S. Harris, the James and Ellenor Chesebrough Professor in the Electrical Engineering Department of Stanford University, specializes in semiconducting heterostructures -- especially those, such as gallium arsenide, used in lasers central to all fiberoptic communications networks and in all digital cellular telephones. His current research interests are in the physics and application of new artificially structured materials and nanofabrication techniques for new electronic and optoelectronic devices and quantum computing.
