Biography
Hyunsoo Yang is a Stanford Ph.D. in the electrical engineering department. In his SpinAps research at Almaden, he is using inelastic-electron-tunneling-spectroscopy to understand the mechanisms of two phenomena: changes in tunneling magnetoresistance with voltage variations as well as indirect tunneling through the tunneling barrier.

A native of Kwangju, Republic of Korea, Yang earned his bachelors degree in electrical engineering (with honors) from the Seoul National University in 1998. He worked at a communications circuit design company, earning a patent award, until 2001, when he enrolled in Stanford's graduate school on a scholarship from the Korean Ministry of Information and Communications.
