CPIMA Summer Student Program

Stipends are available for a 10 week program of research for undergraduates in chemical engineering, chemistry, materials science, physics and related fields. Support for this comes from the NSF Materials Research Science and Engineering Center on Polymer Interfaces and Macromolecular Assemblies which involves Stanford University, IBM Almaden, and the University of California at Davis. Undergraduates (sophomores and juniors primarily) work on research projects with scientists at the three sites and participate in a technical symposium. Some of the educational outreach involves projects at The Tech Museum of Innovation in San Jose.

Eligibility:
Open to undergraduate students who will be sophomores, juniors, or seniors majoring in an engineering or physical
science discipline.
Applicants must have an interest in pursuing a graduate degree in engineering
or physical sciences.
Applicants must be a U. S. Citizen or U.S. Legal Permanent Resident.
Applications are especially encouraged from students at primarily
undergraduate institutions, women, and students who are members of
underrepresented groups and physically disabled students.
Terms: Participants are required to work full time and may not have
outside jobs or enroll in classes that interfere with normal working hours.
