The figure above demonstrates the capability of increasing the track density by a factor of ten by using the implementations described above as compared with a recent LTO product. The MFM image on the left is of the barium ferrite tape written with LTO-formatted random data, shingled to a residual trackwidth of 1.5 μm. The MFM image on the right is of a LTO Gen 3 tape shingled to a residual trackwidth of 14.3 μm.
