Fulcrum is a network file system load director. The objectives of the Fulcrum project are to improve
the scalability, availability and performance of IBM NAS systems.
Fulcrum innovations include the following:
- Network-file-system-aware dispatching at the packet level
- Innovative packet forwarding that increases per packet performance by over 50%
- Optimized operating system environment
- Very smart dispatching and administration, including the modification of system configuration
in anticipation of dynamic variations in load
